StoraEnso’s website - outstanding in Finland

Friday, August 08, 2003

As proclaimed in Kauppalehti november 27 does the best corporate website belong to the Finnish-Swedish forest corporation StoraEnso. This according to the fifth edition of the annual Webranking in Finland made by the Swedish consultant Hallvarsson & Halvarsson.

StoraEnso’s website is outstanding in Finland with 84.25 points out of 100. The company is followed by Metso (73.5 p) and Nordea (72.75 p). There have never been a website that stands in class of it’s own like this before in Finland according to previous editions of Webranking. This is due to great improvement on the winning website, a website that even last year was of top class. The financial information is almost complete with, for example, a share section with linked graphs, owners, shares capital history etc. of very high standard.

The Finnish average in Webranking 2003 has risen by almost 6 points compared to 2002 despite about 20 % new criteria in this years review protocol. This is due to an extensive improvement on websites in Finland and, in fact, all over Europe there the same the trend have been noticed.

Interactive functions that, for example, can consist of web formulary and advanced share graphs have become much more common on Finnish websites this year, the average is however still below the corresponding average in the other Nordic countries. On the other hand are Finnish companies well above the Nordic average when it comes to the corporate governance section were it, for example, is very common to in detail present the insiders and the share dealings in the management/board.

Successful Finnish-Swedish mergers

The Finnish-Swedish companies have preformed very well in Webranking, during each of the last three years have both StoraEnso and Nordea reached medal position. Also TietoEnator have been successful. The most recent Finnish-Swedish merger, TeliaSonera, have however yet to come clean since they only reaches position 26 this first time.
