Georg Fischer has topped four time previous winner UBS in the 2008 H&H Webranking Switzerland Top50. UBS and Swisscom came in second and third respectively. The Swiss average has fallen slightly and slipped even further behind the European average.

Following the financial crisis there is an increased need for corporate communication. On one hand there is the urgency to calm customers, shareholders and others who worry about the company’s ability to survive and adapt in these times. On the other hand there is the need to increase communication when marketing budgets are being cut.The dialogue can not be allowed to die just because the times are tough. It has been speculated whether companies will really start to use social media as a serious communication alternative during the recession. With this in mind, for companies venturing into the realm of social media there is the need for some social media training.
The 2008 H&H Webranking Awards is now behind us and Christmas is just around the corner. Our first European H&H Webranking award ceremony was a big success and we can already say that it will be a yearly recurring event. The top performing corporate websites in Europe were awarded in the following categories, best in Sweden, best in the Nordic Region and best in Europe. Wienerberger has beaten three time previous winner Telekom Austria in the 2008 H&H Webranking Austria Top35. Telekom Austria came in second place, followed by OMV. The Austrian average score increased by one point, yet still underperforms the European competition.
Representatives from all over Europe gathered at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm on the 11th December for the first annual H&H Webranking Award Ceremony. The top performing corporate websites in Sweden, The Nordic Region and in Europe were awarded. The Best Climber and Best Innovator were also awarded on the event.

Today the Financial Times published an article about H&H Webranking 2008. The article focuses primarily on how companies communicate in social media, which is one of the new areas that the H&H Webranking highlights studies in 2008. ENI takes top position in the H&H Webranking 2008 after a sixth place in 2007. Second place goes to Deutsche Post World Net and Italian UniCredit rounding up the top three best performers.

This time we would like to bring attention to an example by the Swedish bank Swedbank (who also was the biggest climber in the 2008 Webranking, Sweden).

Following the publication of this year’s H&H Webranking results an elegant award ceremony will be held in Stockholm.
The Finnish business daily Kauppalehti published the 2008 H&H Webranking results. Neste Oil takes the top position in Finland after third place in 2007. Second place goes to last year’s winner Fortum, and Wärtsilä takes the bronze. Unfortunately, Finland as a country lost its lead to Germany as the highest average scoring country in H&H Webranking.

One hundred and fifty industry professionals as well as representatives from 30 of Italy’s largest listed companies gathered in the headquarters of Corriere della Sera this afternoon for the fifth annual Hallvarsson & Halvarsson (H&H) Webranking awards ceremony in honour of Italy’s top performing corporate websites.

Eni surpassed Telecom Italia as this year’s winner in the H&H Webranking 2008 Italy Top80. UniCredit Group and Telecom Italia came in second and third place respectively. After large strides in performance over the last few years Italian companies are losing ground with respect to their European peers. Major changes to the survey include a new section dedicated to employer branding.

For the third consecutive year we apply our interactive report format which shows the close relationship between results, criteria and user opinions. This value added feature is further improved by additional content and functions in this year’s edition. Furthermore the new H&H Webranking report will have the same new design and profile as our new website. (Se the screenshots from the new report below)
Our new website is now launched. Our ambition is that our site should not only be an information site for companies included in the survey, but also function as a communication platform for everyone interested in online communication. We have long been trying to create a forum for online communication where interested parties can go and get updated on the latest trends and news as well as find the results from the latest H&H Webranking survey.
We think it is fair to say that to most companies H&H Webranking has become the established international Yardstick for website performance.

This time we would like to bring attention to an internal search engine that truly goes one step ahead. The Best Practice below of the Italian energy company ENI shows great functionality and creativity.
New H&H Webranking reportAs the previous year, we continue on our interactive report format which adds further value to the report’s close connection between results, criteria, user opinions and over 300 Best Practice examples. This year we have improved our online report even further by adding more content and functions. This year's H&H Webranking report will have the same new design and profile as our new website.
Many companies are today developing new and innovative ways of reaching the capital market with their information. We also see that people are using new tools and techniques, such as mobile phones to achieve information and search on the Internet. We have therefore added a completely new criterion in our 2008 protocol, The criteria is called Mobile site and reviews companies’ ability to make their corporate websites available through mobile and handheld devices.

The results from H&H Webranking Kazakhstan are now published in Kursiv. H&H Webranking Kazakhstan, now in its second annual edition, highlights that Kazakh companies’ ambitions in online communication have increased since last year, but still have some work to do in order to match up to their Western European peers.

We have all seen or experienced media’s role as a platform for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) debate and its function as a control institution on how corporations comply with their promises of working towards a sustainable future. Since the media climate has drastically changed, due to the evolution of Web 2.0, we experience a situation where the new media works not only as a platform but as a multiplier of corporate exposure through the web. The vast online CSR related discussion does not only evoke the necessity for corporations to increase their presence online, but also offers an opportunity for effective stakeholder management that is transparent, value building and measurable.
Web standards are recommended technologies provided by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), in order to define and describe web based content. These technologies can be interpreted in different ways, giving a different meaning to users, search engines and devices used to browse the web. If web standards are used the way they are supposed to be used, they are invaluable tools when building a website.
The ranking stage in the H&H Webranking has now been completed. Over 700 corporate websites have been reviewed and hundreds of Best Practice examples have been collected. Currently the team is working on analyzing and categorizing the results deriving from the ranking. We are eagerly looking for patterns, trends, and tendencies in the ranking data.

The results from H&H Webranking Estonia are now published in financial newspaper Äripäev. The winner of this year’s Estonian ranking is shipping company Tallink Grupp with 47.5 points, 3 points more than runner - up Eesti Telekom. On third place we find Merko Ehitus, an Estonian construction company.

The results from the Russian edition of H&H Webranking have now been published in the Russian business magazine Expert. Lukoil managed to defend its title as the best Russian corporate website with a score of 54.25, followed by Novolipetsk Steel with 52.5 and Norilsk Nickel with 51.25. Vimpelcom achieved the biggest improvement, moving from the lowly position of fourteenth place last year up to fifth this year.

Currently the H&H Webranking team are working on the ranking of companies in the Eastern Markets.
In the H&H Webranking survey of 2007, we experienced company’s inability to reach out to journalists. The average score in the press section was also one of the lowest in the survey.
Just over 40 of the Fortune 500 companies are engaged in corporate blogging of some kind.
This is information highly valued by analysts, however very few companies offer information about market share and sector competitors.

The Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet publishes the Swedish state-owned H&H Webranking result today.
Today we see new trends in consumption of information. Many companies have been developing new and innovative ways to reach investors through digital connections. Using Webcast as a communication channel is one of these trends and has increased on the corporate websites.
The 2007 edition of the H&H Webranking survey has now reached its final stage and preparation for the next round has just begun.

For the first time ever, H&H Webranking has included Poland in its yearly survey. Winner is the telecom company TP Group with a score of 52.75 out of 100.

The German financial newspaper Handelsblatt publishes the German H&H Webranking results today. The winner of H&H Webranking 2007 Germany was Deutsche Post World Net with 77.25 points, closely followed by Siemens with 73, and RWE with 72 points out of 100.

To increase our interaction with our website visitors, we are now introducing a live chat function.
Basically any company that has been mentioned in an independent media source can have its own page in Wikipedia’s directory. But how do you do?
The Dutch mail and express company TNT wins the ranking for the third time with a score of 87.25 out of a total of 100. Second place in the Netherlands went to life- and material sciences group DSM with a score of 76.25, while third place went to the international provider of banking and insurance services Fortis with a score of 70.25. The Netherlands as a country remains a strong contender in Europe with an average score of 54.5.

Austrian Wirtschaftsblatt published the H&H Webranking 2007 Austria today. Telekom Austria topped the ranking, followed by Wienerberger and OMV. Austrian average scores have improved this year, but they still lag behind the European average.
