The Turkish economy paper Ekonomist published the H&H Webranking result for Turkish companies today. Turkcell wins for the third time in a row, with 36.25 points (out of 100). Turkcell are closely followed by GarantiBank, advancing one step from last year. The bronze goes to Dogan Holding, who takes a huge step forward from last year’s 18 position. Overall it is shown that Turkish companies have high ambitions but the websites need an upgrade in order to match up to their Western European peers.

The Danish paper Børsen.dk published the Danish H&H Webranking result today. It is the tenth consecutive year the H&H Webranking survey highlights Danish corporate websites. Danske Bank takes the top position in the 2009 survey for the sixth year in a row. Despite harder demands from the capital market and a more thorough research protocol Danske Bank continues to hold off their Danish competitors. Second place goes to Nordea, and Novo Nordisk takes the bronze. Denmark as a country takes a huge step forward, turning in at number 4 in Europe.

The telecommunication company Telenor takes top slot in the 2009 H&H Webranking survey for Norwegian corporate websites. Second place goes to the energy giant StatoilHydro and the aluminum supplier Norsk Hydro comes third.

The Russian paper Expert published the Russian H&H Webranking result today. Russian companies are still behind its neighbouring countries when it comes to communicate online. No Russian companies are among the 150 best corporate websites in Europe. This year Russia as a country takes a step back, turning it at no. 20 in Europe. Mobile Telesystems wins the Russian ranking closely followed by the oil and gas giants Rosneft and Lukoil.
The Belgian H&H Webranking result was today published in both Belgian newspapers L'Echo and De Tijd. The bancassurance group KBC with 56.25 (out of 100) take top position in H&H Webranking 2009 Belgium. The biopharma leader UCB climbs the ranking, from last year’s 5th position to second place this year with 46.75 points. The former silver medalist Inbev shares the Bronze with Umicore both with 46 points.

On the 10th December, representatives from all over Europe gathered at Hallvarsson & Halvarsson's office in Stockholm offices for the second annual H&H Webranking Award Ceremony. The ceremony has become a key event for online strategists, awarding the best in online corporate communication. The top performing corporate websites from Sweden, The Nordic Region and Europe were awarded. The Best Climber and Best Social Media Presence was also recognized at the event.

Swisscom claims first place in the H&H Webranking 2009 Switzerland, Crèdit Suisse and UBS fell short behind. The research includes Switzerland’s 54 largest listed companies measured by market capitalization.

For the ninth consecutive year the H&H Webranking survey highlights European best practice standard and transparency in online communication. The energy giant Eni takes top position in the 2009 H&H Webranking Europe 500. Second place goes to UniCredit Group while Telecom Italia comes third. Never before has a single country dominated the top three positions. Finland passes Germany as the highest scoring country in Europe.

Repsol takes top position in the 2009 H&H Webranking survey for Spanish corporate websites. Second place goes to Iberdrola and Telefonica comes third. Spain as a country takes one step back this year, turning in at number 16 in Europe.

Fortum takes the top position in H&H Webranking 2009 Finland. Second place goes to last year’s winner Neste Oil, and Wärtsile takes the bronze. This year Finland passes Germany, and once again becomes the highest scoring country in Europe.

Eni confirms its first place in the H&H Webranking 2009 Italy, followed by multi-utility Hera (for the first time on the podium) and by Pirelli & C. The research has been extended this year and now includes the 100 largest companies as measured by market capitalization. The leaders excel in comparison with European peers, but the total average drops.

The Swedish business daily Dagens Industri published the Swedish H&H Webranking results today. Trelleborg came in first place, followed by Swedish Match and SKF in the 13th annual H&H Webranking Sweden. Scania is this year’s best climber and made it into the top ten for the first time.

For the first time ever, corporate websites in the Gulf region were awarded for best corporate website according to H&H Webranking. The event took place at the prestigious Capital Club in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Wednesday 7 October 2009.

The real estate giant EMAAR of UAE takes the top position in the first ever H&H Webranking GCC. Second place goes to Abu Dhabi National Energy Company and ZAIN rounding up the top three best performers. Bahrain as a country has the highest average score in the region, closely followed by United Arab Emirates.
The ranking stage in the H&H Webranking has now been completed. Approximately 800 corporate websites have been reviewed and hundreds of Best Practice examples have been collected. Currently the team is working on analyzing and categorizing the results deriving from the ranking.
The section ’Best Practice’ in the H&H Webranking newsletter highlights different examples where companies go one step further in using the online medium efficiently. This time we are focusing on financial tables, of which the Swedish engineering company Trelleborg gives a good example. The tables by Trelleborg offer a unique presentation of their financial statistics that is rich in highly valued information presented in a way that is easy to understand and use.
The results of this year’s practical e-mail test reveal that the waiting time for responses is considerably low for some companies, 23% of the companies answered within four hours. The results show that companies that traditionally receive a high score in H&H Webranking also respond quickly to our practical e-mail tests.

Following the publication of H&H Webranking 2009 an award ceremony will be held on 10th December in Stockholm. A proper invitation with the overall topics, a schedule and more information about the speakers will be sent out shortly. You can already pencil the date in your calendars and if you have any suggestions or thoughts about the event you are very welcome to let us know.
The information presented under the sections “about the company” and corporate “strategy” on corporate websites are often permanent and unchanged over time. Why should these sections contain the same information, regardless of what happens in the market? Should it not instead reflect the company’s view on major or sudden changes in the market?
Ericsson, the Swedish telephone company, started making telephones as early as in 1876. It was publicly listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange more than a hundred years ago. The size of the annual reports has grown during the years, from 6 pages the first year to 176 pages in the report for 2008, see chart.
Currently the H&H Webranking team is working on the second round of the ranking. As you may already know, there are more companies included this year and it is a long process. However more companies also mean more good and interesting examples, better overviews and knowledge of future trends.

Right now the H&H Webranking team is working on the first round of the ranking. To date, close to 270 corporate websites divided into 28 different industry sectors have been ranked. We have already seen several inspiring best practice examples and some positive and unexpected results.
Best Practice solutions from our ranking highlight different examples of effective and interesting online communication. This time we would like to bring attention to an example by the Norwegian oil and gas producer StatoilHydro.
In our latest newsletter we presented our new selection of companies, i.e. the introduction of the FT European 500. Our FT European 500 selection is based on Financial Time's list that was released previously this year. This means that we once again are widening the corporate website horizon by increasing the amount of companies included in H&H Webranking 2009.

As this is being written, we have sent out and received over 300 answers on our questionnaire. The purpose with the questionnaire is to map out Internet behaviour and to find out what content and functionality that is requested by a group of the most important webiste visitors for a listed company. Within H&H Webranking we have defined this group as analysts, investors, journalists and job seekers. The respondents are concentrated to Europe.
Best Practice solutions from our ranking highlight different examples of effective and interesting online communication. This time we would like to bring attention to an example by the insurance giant Aviva (who took the first place in UK in 2008).

According to the H&H Webranking 2008, companies operating in the telecommunication sector are overrepresented in the top. In almost all of the included countries in the survey we found a telecom company among the top three, a massive increase since last year. In the history of H&H Webranking we have never before seen such an improvement of some companies involved in the same industry.
The Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet publishes the Swedish state-owned H&H Webranking result today. The energy giant Vattenfall defends the top position in H&H Webranking of state-owned companies. The partly state-owned telecommunication company TeliaSonera comes second and the bank Nordea takes the bronze. The forest owner and supplier of timber Sveaskog is this year’s climber with a massive 18,25 point increase. State-owned companies have generally been a bit behind the listed companies in Sweden, but this year the survey shows that the difference decreases.
All the results are now published and all the companies that are included in our ranking have received information about their scores on email. As you probably know the publication of H&H Webranking starts in October every year, we usually start with Sweden and the rest of the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe follows after that. The economic climate and the fact that there where 20 countries included in the 2008 survey it took some time, but we did our best to publish the result as soon as possible.

For the first time ever, H&H Webranking has included Portugal in its yearly survey. The 6 largest companies in Portugal, measured by market capitalization, are included in the ranking. Portugal Telecom wins the H&H Webranking Portugal with a score of 51.25 out of maxium 100. On second place we find the energy giant EDP (49.75) and Banco Espírito Santo (45.5) takes the bronze.
Irish Life & Permanent with a score of 60 points, retain its top position in the H&H Webranking Ireland 2008 for the second year in row. On second place we find the building giant CRH and Allied Irish Bank comes third. Irish corporate websites have improved since last year but are still lagging behind its neighbouring countries.
For the first time ever, H&H Webranking has included Greece in its yearly survey. The 7 largest companies in Greece, measured by market capitalization, are included in the ranking. Piraeus Bank wins the H&H Webranking in Greece with a score of 46.5 out of maxium 100. On second place we find Eurobank EFG (44.75) and the large bottle producer CocaCola Hellenic (42.75) takes the bronze.
Communication strategies are generally designed for the ‘good times’. Their goal is to raise awareness and interest from the media, analysts and other stakeholders in areas such as booming markets, high profitability within a specific area or a new and promising CEO. But what should they talk about on the website in times of difficulties?

The Hungarian economy paper hvg.hu publishes the Hungarian H&H Webranking results today. The conglomerate MOL takes the top position in the H&H Webranking Hungary 2008, closely followed by the silver medallist M Telekom. The real estate developer Orco Property Group takes the bronze.

Aviva with the score of 71 wins the H&H Webranking UK 2008 after a 12th place in 2007. Second place goes to Vodafone (70) and BP (69.75) comes third. UK companies surprises with a great improvement in the 2008 Webranking.
An ongoing trend for several years is that annual reporting is moving towards the web. A vast majority of the companies in our surveys offer their stakholders an online annual report. Unfortunately we rarely see useful digital solutions that truly facilities the users’ needs and adds vale. Most of the online reports that we come across in the H&H Webranking survey are what we believe simple remakes of the printed version and subsequently overlooks the purpose of producing an online report.

The Czech business paper Hospodarske Noviny publishes an article about the findings in this year's ranking of the Czech H&H Webranking. CEZ takes the top position in Czech Republic for the second year in a row. Second place goes to Zentiva, and TelefónicaO2 takes the bronze.

The German economy newspaper Handelsblatt publishes the German H&H Webranking results today. Deutsche Post World Net wins the German ranking with a score of 84, for the second year in a row. Second place goes to Adidas Group and ThyssenKrupp, both with 77.5 points. Germany passes Finland as the highest scoring country in Europe.

The contemporary corporate website is a frequently underused source of business intelligence. Strong competition for attention and an increasing amount of experience among webmanagers combine to make corporate websites ever larger and more advanced. The more content and functionality a website has, the more knowledge there is to gain from it. Therefore, the opportunities today are greater than ever.
The building materials giant Lafarge with a score of 64.5 takes top position in the H&H Webranking France 2008 after a 2nd place in 2007. Second place goes to France Telecom (61.75) and the leading aerospace company EADS (61) comes third. France as a country has unfortunately decreased its score this year compare to its neighbouring countries.
The annual H&H Webranking shows that only 6% of the reviewed companies received full score in our new criteria covering Social Media. The result shows that there is a large gap between the demands from visitors and what is actually being done by the companies. The survey shows for examples that 90% of the respondents (analysts, investors and journalists) search for information about listed companies in other channels than the company’s website. Even if companies are not actively using Social Media, they are being discussed and rated there.
Fortis retains its top position in the H&H Webranking Beglium with 70.5 points. Second place goes to the brewer company Inbev (63.75), closely followed by The Bank KBC Group (63.25). Belgium as a country has increased its score since last year, and is placed no 9 this year.

Zurich, February 25th, 2008 – The second annual H&H Webranking Awards Ceremony was held this afternoon in Zurich, recognizing the top performing corporate websites in the 2008 H&H Webranking Switzerland survey. The H&H Webranking research, published in collaboration with the NZZ, represents Europe’s most comprehensive survey of corporate online communication. The 53 largest listed companies in Switzerland are considered out of a total of over 700 companies throughout Europe.
The Polish business daily Money.pl published the 2008 H&H Webranking result today. It is the second consecutive year the H&H Webranking survey highlights Polish best practice standard and transparency in online communication. Bre Bank takes top position in Poland with a score of 53.25 (out of 100). Second place goes to the former winner, Poland’s leading telecom company TP Group (TPSA) (51.25) and KGHM Polska Miedz (45.5) rounding up the top three best performers.

The oil and gas giant Repsol-YPF takes the top position in the H&H Webranking Spain 2008 for the third year in a row with a score of 78.5. Second place goes to Telefonica (61.75), and the infrastructure manager Abertis (55.25) takes the bronze. Spain is ranked number 14 out of the all countries included in the 2008 survey, a change since last years 13th position out of 18 countries.
We frequently spot trends and upcoming areas of interest that we would like to give extra focus. We think it is fair to say that the social media boom has been one of the top subjects for this year. We are therefore very proud to finally launch the second H&H spotlight report that only focuses on social media and online corporate communication.

The annual H&H Webranking CSR shows that 14 companies received full score in the CSR-section this year. This is a major improvement from last year, when only 9 companies manage to receive full score. 78 per cent of the reviewed companies in the survey, 694 companies in total, have a separate part of their corporate website covering CSR, compared to 73 per cent last year. Of the 150 largest companies in Europe the proportion is much higher and 97 per cent have a separate CSR section on their website. Read the article in IR Magazine

The annual ranking has nominated SKF Best Company in Sweden in presenting CSR information. SKF is the first Swedish company to receive a full score in the survey, followed closely by Boliden, Electrolux and Ericsson on a shared second place. The survey also reveals that 78 per cent of Europe’s 700 largest companies now communicate CSR-efforts on their corporate websites.

Danske Bank with the score of 77.25 takes the top position in the H&H Webranking Denmark 2008. This is their fifth win in a row, which is unique in the history of H&H Webranking. Second place goes to Nordea (72), and Danisco (71.75) takes the bronze. Denmark as a country manage to hold its position from last year even though there are more countries included in this year's survey.
The Gas, water & multi-utlilities sector has the highest average score in H&H Webranking 2008, a step forward from last years 4th place. Last year's winning sector Large international banks is placed no 3 this year. Companies in B2B sectors tend to score higher than B2C, which can clearly be spotted in the table below. The lower average score by B2C companies has been an ongoing trend for several years. This trend is extra clear if we look at the B2C sector luxury goods, where some companies are in danger of falling even further behind the European average.

The Dutch business daily Het Financieele Dagblad published the 2008 H&H Webranking result today. TNT takes top position in 2008 for the third consecutive year. Second place goes to the chemical giant DSM and the global financial services company ING rounding up the top three best performers. Randstad and Royal BAM Group are this year's best climbers with an impressive 11 points improvement. Other climbers on the list worth mentioning are Aegon and Heineken.

Dagens IT have published the 2008 Norwegian H&H Webranking result. The fifth annual edition of the H&H Webranking Norway, awarded top honours to the energy giant StailoilHydro as the best Norwegian corporate website. StailoilHydro scored 71.75 points (out of a possible 100), followed by the aluminium supplier Norsk Hydro (with 70.75 points) and Telenor take the bronze with 70 points. The sea food company Marine Harvest is this years ‘best climber’ with an impressive 12 points improvement. Other climbers on the list are StatoilHydro and Aker.
