Wednesday, December 02, 2009

One hundred and forty five industry professionals, including representatives from more than 40 of Italy’s largest companies, gathered at Corriere della Sera newspaper’s offices in Milan this afternoon for the sixth annual Hallvarsson & Halvarsson (H&H) Webranking awards in honour of Italy’s top performing corporate websites.

Published in Italy every year in collaboration with Corriere della Sera, the H&H Webranking is the most comprehensive survey of over 800 corporate websites of Europe’s biggest companies by market capitalisation. This year’s Italian ranking has been expanded to include 100 companies.

Staffan Lindgren, executive partner of H&H in Stockholm, and Joakim Lundquist, head of H&H in Italy, presented the awards in several categories. Assicurazioni Generali was given a special prize for being the fastest company to answer our practical email tests. Steel pipe maker Tenaris won its award as the highest placed new entry in the Italian classification while luxury eyewear company Luxottica received the award for the year’s most improved website.

Third place this year went to Pirelli & C., which won the Italian classification back in 2002 and has been in the top10 in Italy for a long time. Local utility Hera came in second place, climbing up from fifth in 2008. Oil and gas giant Eni retained its position in the top spot for a second year.

The awards ceremony, moderated by CorrierEconomia editor-in-chief Massimo Fracaro, was preceded by a series of keynote speakers and a round table with case studies presented by Roberto Ferrari of Eni, Jen Hansen from Hera and Ivan Dompè from Luxottica. Carlo Alberto Carnevale Maffé, professor of Strategic Management at Bocconi Business University, discussed the relation between interactivity and financial transparency.

This was followed by Nella Ciuccarelli, responsible for Listed Companies Operations and Corporate Governance at the Italian Stock Exchange, and Sara Rusconi, head of H&H Webranking in Italy, who presented the 2009 research and the purpose of the survey.

Staffan Lindgren, Executive Partner of H&H in Stockholm, discussed emerging trends in corporate communications.

The event was streamed live on the Corriere della Sera website
